Disabling factory telematics
+Is it safe to disable OnStar, Uconnect, or Ford SYNC Connect?
Yes, when it's done the way our guides describe. Telematics modules handle cellular connectivity. They aren't part of the airbag, ABS, stability control, or steering systems, so pulling the correct fuse or unplugging the module doesn't affect how the vehicle drives or protects you in a crash.
+Is it reversible?
Every guide leads with a reversible method: a fuse pull, antenna disconnect, connector unplug, or software setting. Put the fuse back or reconnect the plug and the module works again.
+What stops working after I disable it?
Features that depend on the cellular modem: automatic crash notification and SOS calling, remote start and lock from the phone app, vehicle locate and stolen-vehicle tracking, the built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, and over-the-air updates. Radio, Bluetooth, CarPlay/Android Auto, and the backup camera keep working.
+Will disabling telematics void my warranty?
It can affect warranty coverage for related connectivity components, and a dealer may re-enable or flag it during service. Because the recommended methods are reversible, you can restore the module before dealer visits if you want to. See our Terms of Service for details.
+Isn't an account opt-out enough?
It might be. Manufacturer opt-outs stop the data sharing the automaker controls, and GM is now required by the FTC to offer one. But the modem stays powered and connected. If you bought the car used, can't access the original account, or want the hardware itself inert, you need a hardware disable.
+Does disabling the car's tracker stop my phone from tracking me?
No. Your phone, and apps like Google Maps or your insurer's driving app, track location independently. Disabling the vehicle module only stops the car itself from reporting.

+How do I know if there's a hidden GPS tracker on my car?
Check the OBD-II port, under the dash, inside the bumpers and wheel wells, under the seats, and in the trunk, and use your phone's unknown-tracker alerts to find AirTags. Our free guide to finding a GPS tracker on your car walks through all 10 spots.
+Will you remove a tracker installed by my lender?
No. We don't remove GPS or starter-interrupt devices required by an active loan, lease, or fleet agreement. We do remove trackers left behind by a previous owner, fleet, or dealer on a vehicle you now own outright.
Buying a guide
+How do I receive the PDF guide?
By email. Once your Bitcoin payment confirms on the network, usually 10–60 minutes after you send it, a download link is emailed automatically to the address you entered at checkout.
+Can I pay with Cash App or a credit card?
We accept Bitcoin only, but you can buy Bitcoin in Cash App, Venmo, PayPal, Coinbase, or Strike and send it by scanning the QR code on our checkout page. Our Pay with Bitcoin page has step-by-step instructions.
+My vehicle isn't listed. Can you help?
Email removetrackingdevices@proton.me with the make, model, and year. We may already have notes on it, or we can cover it with the local removal service.
+Where is the local removal service available?
It's a mobile service. We come to you anywhere in Arizona from metro Phoenix up the I-17 corridor through Anthem, Prescott, Camp Verde, Cottonwood, and Sedona to Flagstaff. A $100 deposit books the appointment, and the remaining $400 is paid on site in cash or Bitcoin once the job is done. Just outside that area?
