Grand Cherokee, Cherokee & Durango TBM location

Jeep's SUVs and the Durango all carry the Uconnect Telematics Box Module, but it moves between the glovebox, the kick panel, and the console depending on the model and year. Here's where it is and what to do with it.
Short answer
Grand Cherokee WK2 (2011–2021): behind the glovebox, passenger side. Grand Cherokee WL and L (2021+): below and behind the glovebox, after removing the floor air duct. Cherokee KL (2014–2023): passenger side under the dash, behind the kick panel. Durango (2011–2024): behind the glovebox. Disconnect the purple and pink cellular connectors, or remove the box and jumper the GPS and satellite cables to the radio.

The connectors
- Purple and pink: the two cellular antennas (FAKRA codes D and H). These are what you disconnect and leave unconnected.
- Light blue: GPS (code C). Passes through the module to the radio.
- Brown: satellite radio (code F). Also passes through to the radio.
Your options
- Unplug the purple and pink cellular connectors. Fast and reversible. Navigation and SiriusXM keep working. The box stays powered, so treat this as a first step.
- Remove the module completely. This is what we recommend. Bridge the light blue and brown cables straight to the radio with two FAKRA female-to-female jumpers (under $15 a pair), unplug the main harness, and unbolt the box.
- Disable it in software with AlfaOBD. Works directly on 2017 and older. 2018+ Jeeps have a Security Gateway that needs a bypass first.
Before you start
Disconnect the negative battery terminal (10 mm) and wait five minutes. The module often sits near the passenger airbag. Photograph every connector and clip before you remove anything.

+Where is the telematics module on a 2021+ Grand Cherokee?
Below and behind the glovebox area. Remove the floor air duct first (one or two screws), then the lower glovebox panel. The Grand Cherokee L is the same.
+Where is the TBM on a 2011–2021 Grand Cherokee (WK2)?
Behind the glovebox on the passenger side on most builds, or under the center console on some trims. Glovebox removal is seven screws plus clips.
+Is there a fuse I can pull instead?
Not a clean one. Stellantis doesn't give most vehicles a standalone TBM fuse; it shares circuits with the radio or airbag systems. Work at the module instead.
+Will I lose navigation or SiriusXM?
Only if you remove the box without patching the light blue (GPS) and brown (satellite radio) cables back to the radio with FAKRA female-to-female jumpers. Unplugging just the purple and pink cellular connectors leaves both working.
