Equinox & Terrain OnStar module location

The Equinox and Terrain are two of the easiest GM vehicles to disable OnStar on. The module sits in plain view above the gas pedal, and there's a fuse for it in the interior panel. Here's what to look for.
Short answer
On both generations of Equinox and Terrain, the OnStar module is above the accelerator pedal in the driver’s footwell, visible from below the dash. Either pull the VCIM or INFO fuse in the driver-side instrument panel, or unplug the module’s two white harness connectors and two antenna cables.

The fuse
On 2018–2022 models, open the driver-side instrument panel fuse cover and look for a fuse labeled VCIM or INFO on the lid diagram. Pull it with the fuse puller clipped inside the panel. OnStar loses power immediately, and the fuse goes back in any time to restore it.
Or unplug the module
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal (10 mm) and wait five minutes.
- Lie in the driver’s footwell with a flashlight and find the box above the pedal.
- Photograph the two white harness plugs and the two antenna cables.
- Press the locking tab on each white plug and pull straight out. Unscrew or pull the coax connectors.
- Reconnect the battery. The OnStar button shows inactive, and the app can’t reach the vehicle.
What stays working
Radio, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, the backup camera, and every safety system. None of them route through the OnStar module.
