Silverado & Sierra OnStar fuse location

OnStar's hardware, the VCIM, is the cellular and GPS module that reports your truck's location. GM has moved it around a lot, and on many pickups the fuse isn't in a fuse box at all. Here's where to look on every generation.
Short answer
Many Silverado and Sierra pickups have the OnStar fuse in a small waterproof inline holder spliced into the positive battery cable, not in a fuse box. Look for two inline holders about 6 and 8 inches from the battery post. The OnStar fuse is in the one farther from the battery, usually with identification tape wrapped just above it.
Check the battery cable first
- Open the hood and find the red positive battery cable.
- Look for two small waterproof inline fuse holders spliced into it, roughly 6 and 8 inches from the battery post.
- Open the holder farther from the battery (squeeze and pull the cap) and remove the fuse. Note the amperage printed on it.
- OnStar loses cellular and GPS right away. Put the fuse back any time to restore it, with no programming needed.
Not every truck has these inline holders. It depends on the build date. If yours doesn’t, move on to the interior fuse box.
No inline fuse? Check the interior fuse box
Open the driver-side instrument panel fuse cover near your left knee and read the diagram inside the lid. Look for a fuse labeled INFO, ONSTAR, or VCIM. Examples:

Careful: airbag fuses sit close by, and some labels combine AIRBAG and INFO. Confirm the position on your own lid diagram before pulling anything, because the wrong fuse can trigger airbag warnings.

What the module looks like
Most are a gray metal box about 8 × 6 × 1.5 inches with a white part-number label, two white wiring plugs, and two coaxial antenna cables: maroon for cellular and blue for GPS. Bluetooth-equipped versions are a black plastic box with a small window of status lights.
Confirm it worked
With the fuse out or the module unplugged, the OnStar mirror button shows inactive or no service, and the myChevrolet or myGMC app can’t reach the truck. The radio, Bluetooth, and backup camera keep working.

+Where is the OnStar fuse on a Silverado?
On many Silverado and Sierra pickups it's in a small inline fuse holder spliced into the positive battery cable, about 8 inches from the battery post. If your truck doesn't have one, look in the driver-side instrument panel fuse box for a fuse labeled INFO, ONSTAR, or VCIM.
+Will pulling the OnStar fuse affect my radio or Bluetooth?
No. The radio, Bluetooth, and other vehicle systems don't run through the OnStar module. Just be careful not to pull a neighboring airbag fuse in the interior fuse box.
+Where is the OnStar module on a 2019+ Silverado?
On 2019–2025 Silverado and Sierra trucks (T1XX), the module sits in a cage above the accelerator pedal near the footwell air duct. Remove the 7 mm screw on the duct to get to it.
+Is it the same on a Tahoe, Yukon, or Suburban?
Not always. 2015–2020 Tahoe, Yukon, and Suburban SUVs put the module above the glovebox on the passenger side, and on some builds the fuse is in the underhood box. Our OnStar guide covers the SUVs too.
