Tahoe, Yukon & Suburban OnStar module location

GM's full-size SUVs have carried the OnStar module in three different places over the years. Here's where it is on your generation, which fuse feeds it, and how to disable it without losing anything else.
Short answer
On 2015–2020 Tahoe, Yukon, and Suburban, the OnStar module is above the glovebox on the passenger side. On 2007–2013 models it’s behind the radio. On 2003–2006 models it’s behind the glovebox. Pull the ONSTAR or INFO fuse, or unplug the module’s two white harness connectors, and the SUV stops reporting.

What you’re looking for
A gray metal box about 8 × 6 × 1.5 inches with a white part-number label, two large white wiring plugs, and two coaxial antenna cables: maroon for cellular and blue for GPS. Bluetooth-equipped versions are a black plastic box with a small window of status lights.
The fuse
Open the driver-side instrument panel fuse cover near your left knee and read the diagram inside the lid. On 2017 Tahoe and Yukon the fuse is labeled ONSTAR or INFO, and on some builds it sits in the underhood block instead of, or as well as, the interior panel. Pull it and OnStar loses power immediately. Reinsert it to restore, with no programming needed.
Careful: airbag fuses sit close by. Confirm the label before pulling, because the wrong fuse can set airbag warning codes.
Or unplug the module
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal (10 mm) and wait five minutes.
- Remove the trim covering the module for your generation. Photograph clips and screws before prying.
- Photograph the two white harness plugs and both antenna cables.
- Press the locking tab on each white plug and pull straight out. Unscrew or pull the maroon and blue coax.
- Leave the module in place and reinstall the trim. Reconnect the battery.
Confirm it worked
The OnStar mirror button shows inactive or no service, and the myChevrolet, myGMC, or myCadillac app can no longer reach the vehicle. Radio, Bluetooth, and the backup camera keep working.

+Which fuse is OnStar on a Tahoe?

+Is the Escalade the same as the Tahoe?
Mostly. 2016–2024 Escalade puts the module under the dash in the driver or passenger footwell, and some builds have a separate LTE antenna. The disable method is the same: pull the fuse or unplug the two harness connectors.
+Will the radio, Bluetooth, or backup camera stop working?
No. Those run through the radio module, not the OnStar VCIM. Just avoid pulling any neighboring airbag fuse in the interior panel.
